Board chairman of Medeama SC, Tony Aubynn says he has no doubts the club will win the Ghana Premier League for the first time this season.
Medeama are top of the betPawa Ghana Premier League with 57 points,a three-point advantage with a game to go.
While Medeama will be hosting Tamale City, second placed Bechem United will play Aduana on Sunday as the league comes to an end.
The Yellow and Mauves came close to winning the league twice – first in 2018 before the league was halted after the Number 12 Exposé. The second time was when COVID-19 led to a halt of most contact sports in the world which equally affected the Ghana Premier League.
With these, Dr Aubynn believes the club would have been crowned champions at the end of those seasons if the competition was not truncated given their position in the league before it was halted.
“We are confident of winning the league, we think that we have been hard done by nature you remember that during the normalisation period, we were in a comfortable lead and then the league was truncated,” he told Graphic Sports.
“Then before COVID-19, we were also in the lead when the government postponed the league, and we think we have not been fairly treated by nature so it’s our time to win”, Dr Aubynn said.
