President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku believes that the successful completion of the 2022/2023 Betpawa Premier League demonstrates that Ghanaian football is thriving.

His statement challenges critics who claim that local football is declining due to issues like match-fixing, poor playing fields, and low attendance.

Medeama emerged as champions, securing their first-ever league title with an impressive victory over Tamale City.

The atmosphere in Tarkwa was filled with celebration as passionate fans gathered to witness their team lifting the trophy.

The entire community joined in the joyful spirit, with supporters chanting and cheering enthusiastically.

“Today, we have given a firm statement that we have passion for our sports.  We have love for the GPL and our GPL is alive.” Kurt Okraku told StarTimes during the coronation ceremony of the Tarkwa-based side at a packed Akoon Park.

“All of us, trust the process and believe in the process. What we have seen this season has been an amazing journey, a season that enabled all of us to enjoy football at the highest level of quality and on the final day.

Everybody sat on tenterhooks until the last minutes of our game.

Ghana football is alive.”

Aduana Stars, Bechem United and Asante Kotoko joined Medeama to complete the top 4 whiles Tamale City, King Faisal and Kotoku Royals were relegated.
