New Hearts coach must be able to juggle pressure from management, fans – Neil Armstrong Mortagbe

Former Managing Director for Accra Hearts of Oak, Neil Armstrong Mortagbe has outlined a number of qualities the top hierarchy of the club must look out for in hiring a substantive manager for the new season.

Coach Ocloo, who is acting in the interim, has endured a torrid time this season, with the club just 3 points off the drop, after the departure of Zlavko Matic.

The Continental Club Masters commenced the 2022/23 season with Serbian Tactician Zlavko Matic but had to part ways with the club after a series of bad results in the premier league, culminating in some section of fans halting the Serbian’s training sessions ahead of their game against Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Hearts of Oak

In an interview with Citi Sports, Neil Armstrong Mortagbe stated that one of the underpinning elements the next coach must possess is to be able to juggle the pressures of management and the fans.

Every Hearts of Oak fan will not be happy today. I still see a glimmer of hope, in the team that represented.

I believe the management of Accra Hearts of Oak, are looking at areas the club were weak in and, definitely, they will beef up ahead of next season.

We all know who Hearts of Oak are, they are a traditional club.

So you need a Coach with the temperament to handle both the expectations of management and the expectations of fans, that is one of the underpining elements the coach must have.

The other criteria, I believe our Executive Chairman, Togbe Afede and management are well versed in the type of manager that can hold all the stakeholder interest.

The 2020/21 Premier League Champions recorded a 4th consecutive loss this season under interim boss David Ocloo against Real Tamale United at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Phobians are currently in a precarious position and are just three points above the relegation zone heading into the final game week of the season, where they take on Berekum Chelsea next at the Golden City Park on Sunday.
