National Sports Authority (NSA) Director Professor Peter Twumasi has commended the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) for winning the rights to host the FIBA Under 16 Zone 3 Qualifiers.
He lauded the GBBA at a presser held at the Accra Sports Stadium to officially announce the upcoming tournament that is set to run from June 22 to June 24 at the Eden Heights in Ghana’s capital, Accra.
GBBA President Ato Van-Ess, GBBA Vice Presidents Iddrissu Agambire and Alex Kukula and GBBA Treasurer Aurora Commodore-Toppar were present at the ceremony held earlier today.
The competition’s Local Organizing Committee (LOC) was inaugurated by the NSA Boss who charged them to execute their duties well to ensure the competition is held successfully.
“I want to commend the executives of the GBBA for also taking that bold step that when Africa called for the nomination to bid for the hosting, they went there with the support of the Ministry (Sports) and NSA and it was successful and today we are here to put together a body to oversee to the successful organizations of that event.”
On his part, GBBA President Ato Van-Ess was confident in a “host and win” scenario playing out for team Ghana in the competition.
Ghana, Ivory Coast and Nigeria are expected to compete in the tournament.
