Black Meteors head coach, Ibrahim Tanko has named a provisional 29-man squad to begin intense camping in Egypt ahead of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.
The team will depart the shores of Ghana on Monday, June 12, 2023, and will head to Egypt where they will be camped for at least seven days before the start of the tournament in Morocco.
The team had already commenced training in May and played a friendly game against Uncle T FC today, a clash they won 3-0.
The likes of Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer and Kamaldeen Sulemana have been handed a call-up and will reportedly join the team on June 18, 2023.
Ernest Nuamah, Emmanuel Essiam and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh are also in the mix.
The Black Meteors are in Group A and will play host nation, Morocco, Guinea and Congo.
The Black Meteors will begin the tournament with a game against Congo on June 25, before taking on Morocco and Guinea on June 27 and June 30, respectively.
The finalists and third-place playoff winner of this tournament will qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament in Paris while the 4th-placed team will play in the AFC –CAF playoff to decide the final slot at the Olympics.
