Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) President Ato Van-Ess has spelled out the ambitions of Team Ghana for the upcoming FIBA Africa Under 16 Zone 3 Qualifiers.
The zonal qualifiers are scheduled to run from June 22 to June 24 at Eden Heights in Ghana’s capital, Accra with the likes of Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire set to compete.
Winners of the qualifiers will progress to the main championship that is to be held in Tunisia from July 13 to July 23 in the Boy’s and Girl’s divisions respectively.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the games at the Accra Sports Stadium, the GBBA President was confident the teams representing Ghana will top the qualifiers to progress to the national championship.
“As we invite the Minister (Sports), the National Sports Authority Director General and the general public to this tournament, we know that Team Ghana will make Ghana proud. We will host and win.”
Sports Authority Director General Professor Peter Twumasi was on hand to swear the LOC members into office.
