Ghana football legend Asamoah “Baby Jet” Gyan is seemingly upset over Ghana’s disappointing campaign at the 2023 CAF Under 23 AFCON.
The Black Meteors have been eliminated at the group stage of the competition that is taking place in Morocco following a 1-1 draw with Guinea.
Ghana needed a win to secure qualification to the next round after suffering a humiliating 1-5 loss to Morocco in the second game. The Meteors beat Congo 3-2 in the opening round of games.
Striker Emmanuel Yeboah put Ghana up in the 33rd minute after combing neatly with Abdul Fatawu Issahaku but Ibrahima Fofana equalized for Guinea in the 61st minute.
The draw was enough to get Guinea into the semifinals after posting a superior goal difference over Ghana.
While disappointed with the result, Gyan vented his spleen at some individuals in the team he believes played somewhat selfishly.
“What I saw in this Black meteors team is some players think they are bigger than the whole team. Small hype and fame ? SHM. Modern football is not about only what you do with the ball. It’s about what you do without the ball. I see players thinking the can play alone. It’s about time we wake up and defend when we lose the ball. SMH” the former Black Meteors striker stated on his Twitter page.
