FC 1996 Samartex Business Development Manager, Paul Anyaba, has stated coach Annor Walker’s exit from the club was mutual and is part of changes expected as the club transitions to a different phase.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports in the wake of Walker’s surprising decision to leave the Samreboi based club and join Accra Great Olympics.

Walker guided Samartex to a 10th place finish in the team’s debut run in the BetPawa Ghana Premier League. Since the switch, Walker has been replaced as head coach of Ghana’s Black Galaxies by Mas-Ud Dramani.

“At the end of the season, we sat and we felt that we should go our separate ways. Project Samartex is in phases so everyone will come and do what he can.

At the end of every phase, other people will come…Coach Annor Walker came and finished his project. We are moving to a different phase and we need a different coach to take us there.”

Great Olympics flirted with relegation in the immediate past season but a late uptick in form had the Wonder Club finish 14th in the league.
