Ghana forward Ben Bentil has bid farewell to Red Star Belgrade (Crvena Zvezda MTS) after his contract run out and the former Boston Celtics player’s departure getting confirmed by the club.

Bentil is now a free agent and is courting interest from Turkish clubs per reports; the Sekondi native played briefly in the country for Bahcesehir Koleji before moving to Olimpia Milano in Italy.

During his lone season spell with the Serbian giant, Bentil won the Serbian Cup and Serbian Championship but missed out winning the more prestigious Adriatic League

The Adriatic League fields teams from Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovnia and Montenegro. Red Star lost in the best of five game finals series to city rival Partizan Belgrade.

Writing on his Instagram page after his exit was confirmed, Bentil praised the club’s famous passionate fan base and went to describe his teammates as a “great group of guys”.

“Another season in the books thank you God. Unforgettable memories with a great group of guys. Red Star fans will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for all the love through the ups and downs, I really appreciate you” Bentil wrote.
