Board member of the Ghana Swimming League, Christopher Essilfie, says the Citi TV National Swimming Championship is a great addition to the swimming calendar.
He said this in an interview with Citi Sports on the sidelines of the Championship that was held at the Burma Camp in Accra.
The competition had representatives from nine swimming clubs compete in several age category events in the back stroke, breast stroke, butterfly stroke and freestyle.
“It adds on to the number of competitions that we all want to have. I think that the more competitions we have, the better for us.
We just ended the Swimming League and this serves as the curtain raiser for the next meet which starts in October. Obviously it is good; if we get a lot more swimming competitions on board…it helps” Essilfie said.
Marlins Swimming Club ended up as winners of the maiden edition of the Citi Swimming Championship after winning 34 gold, 19 silver and 10 bronze medals respectively.
