In a breakthrough for aquatic sports in Ghana, the National Sports Authority (NSA) has announced that petitioners challenging the Ghana Swimming Association (GSA) have agreed to withdraw their case from court following intensive mediation meetings.
The resolution comes after several hours of high-level discussions involving representatives from rival swimming factions, the Sports Minister, and the NSA hierarchy.
The GSA, now officially rebranded as Aquatics Ghana, has committed to fully abiding by all conditions outlined in the signed roadmap and commitment resolution.

This development marks yet another significant success for the Sports and Recreation Ministry and the NSA in fostering unity and good governance within national sports federations.
The agreement addresses longstanding grievances, including governance issues and compliance concerns that had led to tensions, court injunctions, and recent regulatory actions by the NSA.
By withdrawing the case and embracing the resolution, all parties have paved the way for a unified, transparent, and progressive future for swimming and other aquatic disciplines in Ghana.
The Sports Minister commended the factions for their willingness to dialogue and compromise, stating that the resolution will enable focused efforts on talent development, infrastructure improvement, and international representation ahead of major events, including Ghana’s hosting of the 2026 Africa Aquatics Championships.
The NSA emphasised that this collaborative approach demonstrates the government’s commitment to resolving internal disputes amicably while upholding accountability and the best interests of athletes.
With the dispute now resolved, Aquatics Ghana is expected to resume full operations under the agreed framework, ensuring stability and growth for the sport nationwide.
