Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Board Member, Alhaji Akambi, says the poor production from the team’s recent string of signings is part of the way of life in professional football.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after the Phobia club suffered its worst campaign in recent years by finishing 12th in the 2022-2023 BetPawa Ghana Premier League.
Hearts endured a terrible campaign that had three men (Samuel Boadu, Slavko Matic and David Ocloo) lead the technical department.
Prior to the season, Hearts signed the likes of Konadu Yiadom, Yassan Ouatching and Junior Kaaba, but got very little in productivity from the signings that contributed to the team’s poor form.
“Nobody can run away from it things couldn’t go well for Hearts of Oak this particular season but that is football for you. There are times you get it right, there are times you don’t get it right.
Before the beginning of last season, everybody saw the recruitment that Hearts did, would you have written Hearts off that our recruitment was bad? That is football for you. You can bring in a player it could be Maradonna, change a place he might not be able to click well.”
