Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus and Ghana forward Bernard Tekpetey will face off in a UEFA Europa League playoff tie later this month.
Kudus’ Ajax Amsterdam takes on Tekpetey’s Ludogrets Razgrad on Thursday August 24 in the first of a two legged playoff tie after Ludogrets secured progression to the second stage of qualification.
Ludogrets thrashed Astana 5-1 in the previous round to secure a 6-3 aggregate win over the Kazakh team with Tekpetey scoring twice in the win.
The 25 year old has started the 2023-2024 season on a blistering note by bagging six goals in eight games across all competitions.
In the win over Astana, Tekpetey scored in the 25th and 50th minutes respectively; Razgrad commenced the season competing for a spot in the UEFA Champions League but crashed out after losing to Olimpija.
Tekpetey’s second goal trended on social media for its ferocity with the forward slamming the ball into the top corner of the net from just inside the penalty box.
Kudus is attracting heavy interest from English Premier League side West Ham United after a move to fellow English side Brighton and Hove Albion fell through. (Click highlighted text to read story)
