Medeama Sporting Club Board Chairman, Dr. Tony Aubynn, has pinned the team’s progression to the second round of the 2023 CAF Champions League on sheer determination by the technical staff and playing body.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after Medeama scooped a handful of honours at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Awards.
Medeama was named the Club of the Year Awards and had Vincent Atinga scoop the BetPawa Ghana Premier League Player of the Year prize.
On the African continent, Medeama beat Remo Stars on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate score over two legs and Dr. Aubynn believes determination was key to the win.
“Players were very determined in fact the entire team including head coach, management, technical staff were very determined to go beyond just the preliminary level so I think it’s much more about the determination.”
Medeama has been drawn against Horoya of Guinea in the next round.
