England forward of Ghanaian descent, Eddie Nketiah, has been called up to England’s Senior National Men’s Football Team in the latest invitations handed out by head coach Gareth Southgate.

Aside Nketiah’s inclusion, the biggest takeaways from Southgate’s latest England call up were Aston Villa Ollie Watkins recall to the team and Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling’s continuous absence. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

This comes on the back of the Arsenal player’s surprising omission from England’s games against Scotland and Ukraine in the previous FIFA International window. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

In England’s 1-1 draw with Ukraine, the 24 year old wasn’t even included in the England match day squad for the matchup despite three goalkeepers making the squad.

By not featuring in any of the games, Nketiah is still eligible to play international football for Ghana’s Black Stars despite playing for England at the juniour levels internationally.

After starting the 2023-2024 season on a strong note, Nketiah’s form has fizzled with the forward scoring two goals and having an assist in 10 games in all competitions.

Arsenal plays Manchester City next on Sunday, October 8.
