Kpando Heart of Lions President Dr. Randy Abbey believes his successful re-election to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council is a show of appreciation for what he has done in Ghana football by the delegates.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports on the sidelines of the 2023 GFA Elections in Tamale where he emerged as the aspirant who garnered the most votes (12 out of 18) to retain his seat on the council.
Dr. Abbey run as an incumbent council member vying for one of five Ghana Premier League slots on the powerful body. Nana Oduro Sarfo, Kingsley Osei Bonsu and Frederick Acheampong retained their ExCO seats.
Former Black Stars head coach, James Kwasi Appiah, is the sole new member on the GFA Executive Council. Appiah serves as Technical Director of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
“I think that for me, it’s a call to duty and I think that it is a sign of appreciation of and by my colleagues for what I’ve done and what they believe that, together with my colleagues on the Executive Council we will be able to do for Ghana football.
“For me, it’s more of a thumbs up from the Premier League clubs and a call to work harder for Ghana football.”
