After drawing goalless away from home with Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club, FC Samartex 1996 head coach, Nurudeen Amadu says it isn’t the kind of start he envisaged when he took up the role but is trying his best to keep the team going.
He said this in a post game interview after Samartex registered its first draw of the 2023-2024 BetPawa Premier League season. The Samreboi based side had three wins and two losses in the lead up to the game against Hearts of Oak.
Samartex as at the time of writing leads the league standings with 10 points ahead of a raft of games on Sunday, October 22.
“[Being on top of the league at this stage] It doesn’t mean anything, it’s normal but as a young club I think that we are making efforts to get a good place” and added “Not necessarily (the kind of start I envisaged) because I came very late and I came and met the team and I just have to do my best to keep the team going.”
Samartex finished 10th in its debut league campaign last season but head coach Annor Walker left the team to join fellow league side Accra Great Olympics prior to the start of the present campaign.
