Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club defensive midfielder Mohammed Sherif has opened up on the mixed emotions he went through after scoring his debut goal for the Porcupine Warriors.

He spoke about this in an interview on Kotoko’s official media channel in the lead up to the team’s highly anticipated matchup against city rival Nations FC on Sunday, October 22 in the BetPawa Premier League.

After joining Kotoko from Steadfast FC in 2021, the 21 year old Sherif scored his first goal for Kotoko in a 1-2 loss to Bibiani Gold Stars and wished his first goal for Kotoko earned his side at least a draw.

“I didn’t know how to jubilate (after scoring my first goal) because I didn’t expect it but it came but I wasn’t happy because we couldn’t get a point or a win there so the goal wasn’t that much important to me because I wanted it to be a goal that would give us a point or a win.”

After a slow start that had Kotoko winless after three games, the  team has picked up back to back wins to move into fifth place in the standings.
