Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey missed Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League tie against Spanish side Sevilla due to a muscle injury. The Gunners won the contest 2-1 thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli.
The injury was officially reported by Arsenal in the lead up to the Game 3 contest that kicks off at 19:00 GMT on October 24 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in Seville
Partey was in the mix to feature in the game after playing in Ghana’s international friendly games against Mexico and the USA but has been left out of the Arsenal matchday squad.
His presence in both friendlies came on the back of playing limited minutes in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over defending EPL champions Manchester City after recovering from a near month layoff due to a similar muscle injury.
Partey was an unused substitute in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the league; Japan international defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is the only new inclusion in the starting unit that played in the London derby.
The former Atletico Madrid player’s time at Arsenal has been blighted by injuries and almost led to his transfer from the club ahead of this season.
Partey recently announced the gender of his child with pregnant partner Janine Mackson.
