Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has taken the blame for the team’s 0-4 loss to the United States of America in the Black Stars latest international friendly game.
Ghana lost heavily to the Americans at the Geodis Park in Nashville with Gio Reyna, Folarin Balogun and Christian Pulisic scoring for Team USA.
The loss is Ghana’s second in a row after losing 0-2 to Mexico this past weekend; prior to the games, Hughton held an unbeaten record as Black Stars head coach.
Speaking after the abject performance, Hughton apologized for the performance to Ghanaians and acknowledged his role in the loss.
“I am very conscious of what the game means in Ghana I am very conscious. For any performance that we put in like we did today or the score line that we did today, we are very sorry. I take responsibility for this. I work with a group of players and I determined the tactics I picked the team.”
“It is my responsibility to make sure that we have two games in November…we start to see a performance that is going to win us both games.”
Ghana commences its 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification in November with games scheduled against Madagascar and Comoros.
