Chris Hughton has acknowledged that his Black Stars side needs to develop more heading into the 2023 AFCON.
He said this in a post-game presser after Ghana suffered a 4-0 loss to the United States of America in an international friendly game on Wednesday, October 18 at the Geodis Park in Nashville.
This comes on the back of Ghana losing 2-0 to Mexico in a prior friendly game with the Black Stars failing to put up good performances in both games.
The 2023 AFCON comes off in Cote D’Ivoire in January, 2024 with Ghana drawn in Group B with record winners Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
“We need to develop more if we’re going to go into a tough AFCON tournament in January, we need to develop more and all I can say and promise is that I will continue to work as hard as I can to pick the right squad to pick the right tactics to win the games.”
Ghana plays in November against Madagascar and Comoros in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
