Al-Ahly vs Medeama clash: We aim to make a significant impact – Patrick Akoto

Communications Director for Medeama SC, Patrick Akoto has revealed to CITISPORTS that, the team is well-primed and confident ahead of the clash against Egyptian Giants Al-Ahly in the first group game of the CAF Champions League at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo on Saturday.

The Mauve and Yellows left the country on Wednesday, November 22, nicely suited up in their all-violet and white trainers.

Among the notable players making the trip are Black Stars trio Jonathan Sowah, Fatawu Hamidu, and Nurudeen Abdulai.

Jonathan Sowah made a cameo appearance in the 1-0 loss against Comoros at the Stade Moroni, the other two players did not get any minutes under their belt.

Medeama held their first training session last night in Cairo ahead of the big game on Saturday at the Al-Salaam Stadium. The game kicks off at 7 pm.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Patrick Akoto is buoyant the team will give a decent account of themselves against the defending Champions.

We are very much aware of the enormity of the task ahead, we recognise that we are in a very difficult group, but we will do our best to ensure that Ghanaians are happy.

Indeed, we want to make a significant impact in the CAF Champions league for the first time of asking in the group stage, but we will see how it goes.

It’s clean day of health, we came here with two doctors, so it tells you the importance of this particular match to our club.

We are playing against the jaggernaut of the African side [Al-Ahly], and we want to showcase the Ghanaian champions to rest of Africa and the World.
