Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif has stated that the Koforidua Youth Resource Centre is set to be commissioned on Tuesday, December 19.
He said this in his speech delivered at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Sports Ministry and the National Service Secretariat (NSS) in the presence of Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Dr. Peter Twumasi.
President of the Ghana Olympic Committee Ben Nunoo-Mensah, NSS Executive Director Osei Assibey Antwi and Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) President Kudjoe Fianoo were present at the event.
The agreement, according to Honourable Ussif, is to “facilitate the deployment of National Service personnel to various sectors” within sports organizations (federations).
The Service personnel are expected to contribute in areas of marketing, physiotherapy, psychology, financial accounting and social media content creation.
Touching on the construction of the much heralded youth centers, the Youth and Sports Minister earmarked December 19 for the commissioning of the Koforidua Centre.
“The 10 stadiums that we have built the one in Koforidua, last week I was in Koforidua, we’ve completed a 5,000 seater stadium with six lane tracks and we are scheduled to commission it on the 19th of December.”
“That is why this MoU is very critical so that we have the man power to ensure that these facilities are maintained and maintained well.”
