Accra Lions Football Club head coach Ibrahim Tanko is adamant picking a 2-1 win over Karela United in dramatic fashion will give his young team the confidence to push up the 2023-2024 Betpawa Premier League standings.

A late Ali Mohammed goal turned out to be the winner to give Accra Lions all three points and a jump to eighth place in the league standings.

Speaking on his team’s late game heroics, Coach Tanko believes grabbing a win in such a manner boosts the confidence of his players.

“When you play three games without a loss definitely you have that confidence. A win like this will always push you. Winning at the last minute of the game gives us more confidence and I am sure that the boys will take it.”

Lions take on city rival Accra Hearts of Oak next on Saturday, November 18 but has missed out on beating the Phobia club.

Responding to a question about his team’s losses to Hearts, Coach Tanko said, “There’s always a first time and they should prepare; we are coming.”
