AS Monaco head coach Adi Hutter says Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu has to fight for a place in the Monaco starting unit once the Ghanaian returns from injury.

He said this in a presser following Monaco’s goalless draw with Le Havre away from home; Monaco ranks third in the French Ligue 1.

Salisu is still recovering from a groin injury that has prevented him from playing for Monaco since the 24 year old signed for the principality team from English Premier League side Southampton.

Hutter relayed this message to Salisu while praising 20 year old French defender Soungoutou Magassa.

“He is improving, and I am very happy with his performances. He had some time for adaptation to play in what is a new position for him, but he is a young man who has a lot of talent. He has his place in the team at the moment, so Mohammed Salisu will have to fight to get his.”

In the lead up to Le Havre’s goalless draw Hutter said Salisu was “on the right path” but ended up missing the contest.
