Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has hit out at a section of players in his team as the club goes through a torrid run of form.
The Porcupine Warriors are winless in four games in the BetPawa Premier League and organized a meet the press event to address issues affecting the club.
On the matter of Dr. Ogum consistently fielding young players originally meant to play in the youth team, the former WAFA coach pointed to the youngsters’ technical, tactical and physical readiness for the challenge while calling on “matured” and “senior” players in the team to step up to get first team minutes. “One of the attributes of a coach is to defend players in public and ridicule them in private. I told them… gentlemen you are pushing me to the wall too much.”
“If you don’t sit up as so called matured, old, senior experienced players, then you don’t deserve a place in the first team and I told them again that performance is not permanent, it is transient.”
“If last season, you were the super player in the team the dynamics are different. This season is a different season, you must work for it.”
