Ghanaian & Columbus Crew Midfielder, Derrick Jones has tipped the Black Stars to go far at the upcoming African Cup of Nations slated for Cote d’Ivoire next year.
The Black Stars are in group b alongside seven-time Champions Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
With just a few days to the start of the tournament, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the Black Stars of Ghana will pitch camp in Kumasi, changing from the initial camping in Johannesburg, South Africa ahead of the tournament which will be hosted in the Ivory Coast.
The team will report to camp on the 31st of December 2023 and is expected to stay in camp for approximately ten days before they depart to the Ivory Coast for the tournament.
Jones, a former player of Charlotte FC, now with Columbus Crew highlighted the team’s quality under Hughton after observing the team closely during the October friendlies against Mexico & the United States of America.
He spoke in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports.
Honestly, with this team, i think we have alot of good talents, even when they came to America for the friendlies [against the United States of America & Mexico] i saw them play.
It is actually a very good team, i have very high hopes for them at the upcoming AFCON.
I think the players that we have or don’t get called we still do have a good team.
