Ludogrets Razgrad forward Bernard Tekpetey has been named in the Black Stars provisional squad for the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
The former Paderborn player is part of the 55 man list named by Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton; the trimmed version of the squad should be named by January 3 ahead of the competition’s start date on January 13.
In 32 games in all competitions, 26 year old Tekpetey has scored 11 goals and registered seven assists with three of the assists coming in six Europa Conference League games.
All three Tekpetey assists came in games against Spartak Trnava with two coming in a 4-0 home win and the other coming in 2-1 win away from home.
Tekpetey has been on the fringes of the Black Stars with consistent performances in recent seasons especially since joining Ludogrets from Bundesliga side Schalke 04.
He is aiming to play at the AFCON for the first time since the 2017 edition.

Ludogrets ended the group stage ranked second in Group H tied on 12 points with Turkish side Fenerbache. Ludogrets’ inferior goal difference put Fenerbache in place.
Ludogrets has been drawn against Servette in the Knockout playoff round.
