Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil has ended a mini goal drought by bagging his first goal in five league games as KRC Genk clinched a 3-1 away win over KAS Eupen in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
Paintsil scored Genk’s second in the 56th minute with his strike sandwiched by Yira Sor and Tolu Arokodare’s goals.
After scoring in Genk’s 3-0 win over KV Kortrijk on October 29, 2023, Paintsil failed to score in four straight league games.
Against Eupen over the past weekend, Paintsil gathered a through ball from the right side and slotted the ball to the left corner of the goal for Genk’s second in the game.
Paintsil reacted to his goal on X (formerly Twitter) by stating, “Felt good to be back on the scoresheet yesterday ! God did.”
The goal also marks Paintsil’s second goal contribution in a row after the Ghana winger provided an assist in Genk’s 2-2 draw with Gent.
25 year old Paintsil’s form is picking up ahead of the Black Stars campaign at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire with Ghana placed in Group B alongside Egypt, Mozambique and Cape Verde.
