Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club was on the verge of ending a winless streak at three games but conceded a late equalizer in disappointing fashion to miss out on bagging three points.
The Rainbow Club drew 1-1 with Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex after taking a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute through Hamza Issah.
The goal against Nations is 21 year old Issah’s sixth of the season; recently sacked Hearts head coach Martinus Koopman likened the forward to Brazil and Barcelona legend Romario. (Click highlighted teat to read full story)
However, Hearts’ lead was wiped out on the stroke of full time after Richard Danso’s effort slipped through goalkeeper Richmond Ayi’s hands into the net for the equalizer.
Ayi made two similar mistakes in Hearts 2-3 loss to bitter rival Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the immediate past round. Kotoko striker Steven Mukwala bagged a brace in the super derby off Ayi’s mistakes. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Speaking in a post-game interview, interim Hearts head coach, Abdul Rahim Bashiru highlighted Ayi’s blunder.
“Another blunder from the goalkeeper…It’s like there is so much pressure on them I think that’s the problem and we didn’t defend aggressively as well.”
The Phobians are winless in four straight games.
