Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club assistant head coach David Ocloo says he is happy that Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey has been included in the provisional Black Stars squad for the 2023 AFCON.
He said this in a post game interview after Kotoko scored a 1-0 win over Real Tamale United in the Ghana Premier League courtesy a converted Steven Mukwala penalty.
Lamptey featured in the win and started a move that got Kotoko a goal in the 20th minute but the effort from Mukwala was ruled offside.
Speaking on Lamptey’s call up to Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, Ocloo highlighted the qualities of Lamptey saying, (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“We were very happy to see him selected. Lamptey is a special player. The vision, his level of technique is very high. I just pray he delivers in the Black Stars.”
Lamptey and Medeama SC’s Jonathan Sowah and Fatawu Hamidu headline the Ghana League contingent in the 55 man provisional squad for the Black Stars 2023 AFCON campaign.
Kotoko’s latest win pushes the Porcupine Warriors into sixth place in the standings and three points off league leaders FC Samartex (29 points).
