Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club assistant coach David Ocloo believes Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey’s call up to the Black Stars will be a positive add on to the team’s quality.
He said this at a time strong calls have been made for the former WAFA player to be included in the Black Stars team for the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
Speaking in a post-game interview after Lamptey featured in a goalless draw with Accra Great Olympics in the Ghana Premier League, Ocloo backed such calls and highlighted Lamptey’s quality.
“Lamptey is a fantastic player and you can all see his contribution to the team. It will be an add-on to the Black Stars” Ocloo said.
The deadline for submission of squad lists for the 2023 AFCON is January 3, 2024 and the almost certain absence of Thomas Partey to injury and the lack of creativity in the team has prompted calls for Lamptey to be included in the Black Stars.
Ghana is in Group B with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique for the AFCON.
