Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club’s winless run in the Ghana Premier League has extended to five games after playing out a goalless draw with Accra Great Olympics.
The Ga Mashie Derby was played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi and not in Accra due to the unavailability of the Accra Sports Stadium.
In the midst of a poor run that has had the Phobians lose to its biggest rival Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Hearts missed chances to score a win to end the run.
The biggest miss happened in the 43rd minute when 23 year old left winger Enock Asubonteng placed his headed attempt wide despite being eight yards from the goal.
Hearts have scored 12 goals in 16 league games and the team’s wastefulness in front of goal was highlighted by recently sacked head coach Martin Koopman. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Interim head coach, Abdul Bashiru, has made the same complaints and his woes worsened when Asubonteng missed the big chance to score and potentially get Hearts the win. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Former WAFA player Asubonteng’s miss was so shocking that it drew a miffed reaction from Bashiru who looked helpless on the sideline.
Hearts have just three wins with nine draws and four losses in 16 league games. Hearts sit 10th in the league standings at the time of writing.
