Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel can’t believe Man United manager Erik Ten Hag decided to push for Man United to sign Antony and not Mohammed Kudus from Ajax Amsterdam.
He made this comment during his post game analysis after Man United lost 2-0 to West Ham United with Kudus scoring the second goal. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Antony and Kudus played at Ajax for two seasons with both coming under Ten Hag who got the Brazilian winger to join him at Man United when the Dutch manager got the job at Old Trafford prior to the 2022-2023 season.
Kudus moved to West Ham this past offseason and has scored 10 goals in 26 games in all competitions since joining the Hammers.
Antony on the other hand, has disappointed with zero goals and zero assists in 19 games in all competitions this season after Man United paid Ajax 95 million Euros to get from Ajax last season.
Kudus was bought from Ajax to West Ham for 43 million Euros and his fine form has forced Man United legend Schmeichel to quiz Ten Hag’s selection.
“There’s something about that boy [Kudus], he’s special. I don’t get it, if he [Ten Hag] knows these boys very well, why did he pick Antony ahead of Kudus?”
Antony was replaced in the loss to West Ham after 73 minutes and Kudus was subbed out in the 90th minute and replaced with Ben Johnson.
Kudus is set to play for Ghana’s Black Stars at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
