West Ham midfielder Mohammed Kudus and Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams have been named in the starting lineup for Ghana’s game against Egypt.
The game is the second fixture for either team in the 2023 AFCON taking place in Cote D’Ivoire; the big match kicks off at 20:00 GMT.
Kudus missed Ghana’s 1-2 loss to Cape Verde in the opening game of the Black Stars campaign due to a reported hamstring that had him miss a huge chunk of the Stars preparations for the AFCON. His inclusion is a game time decision. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Williams started against Cape Verde off the bench with his omission from the starting lineup likely influenced by his recovery from illness close to the tournament’s commencement on January 13.
However, Hamburg SV winger Ransford Yeboah Konisgdorffer has been dropped from the starting lineup to the bench with Kudus taking his spot as the creative midfielder lined up directly behind the striker (Inaki Williams).
Salis Samed replaces Baba Iddrisu in the starting lineup but no changes were made in the back line with Alexander Djiku, Salisu Mohammed, Gideon Mensah and Denis Odoi maintaining their places ahead of goalkeeper Richard Ofori.
Ghana needs a win over Egypt to boost its chances of progressing to the round of 16 stage.
