Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club have officially announced that they have mutually parted ways with three players as the team prepares to compete in the Ghana Premier League second round.

The players released are Michelle Sarpong, Albert Eonde and Eric Esso in the wake of the team completing the signing of goalkeeper Sharif Shuaib.

Two of the released players, Esso and Eonde, were recently included in a controversial interview granted by ex-Hearts head coach Martin Koopman after he got sacked.

The Dutch trainer named Esso and Eonde as part of seven players Hearts of Oak board members allegedly instructed to be ostracized from the team because “they don’t believe in them” and “cannot help him” in the MTN FA Cup.

Hearts of Oak board members Vincent Sowah Odotei, Alhaji Akambi and Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe led a press conference to refute the allegations. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“The board has never said to any coach or Koopman that he shouldn’t use the players he mentioned” was the board’s position.

Hearts of Oak are preparing for the second round of the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League after concluding the first round ranked 11th with 21 points but sit just six points ahead of bottom ranked Accra Lions.
