Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew says he is happy his final game before leaving for the 2023 AFCON ended in a win for Crystal Palace.
He said this after registering an assist in Palace’s 3-1 win over Brentford to close out the 2023 calendar year; the win is Palace’s first in the league in two months.
Jordan is part of the Black Stars squad picked by Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton to compete in Cote D’Ivoire. The tournament runs from January 13 to February 11.
Speaking in a post game press conference after registering his fifth assist of the 2023-2024 season, Ayew said,
“It was a big game for us. We hadn’t won for two months and it was important to win. It was my last game before I’m off to the Africa Cup of Nations, and I wanted to go away with a win.”
“The win was massive; massive for our confidence and for our belief as well. To end the year like that was perfect.”
