Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club striker Steven Mukwala has praised the qualities of Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey in the wake of Lamptey’s inclusion in the Black Stars squad for the 2023 AFCON campaign.
He said this in an interview with Kotoko’s media channel in the presence of Lamptey who received the big news on Monday after Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton announced the squad.
Lamptey and Mukwala have formed a fine partnership with the creative midfielder assisting three of Mukwala’s goals; the Ugandan striker has six league goals.
Speaking on Lamptey’s callu up to the Black Stars, Mukwala said, “I believe with his quality, his experience, I believe he will help the team. We just need the best from him and am sure he will perform.”
“We all know that he’s a good midfielder without doubt. You know his vision, I believe he will really do good and the whole Ghana will be proud of him as well.”
Lamptey made the list after a brilliant run of form that has culminated in Kotoko’s rise from a poor start to the season to third place in the Ghana Premier League standings and just three points off league leaders FC Samartex 1996.
