Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club midfielder Richmond Lamptey has described his inclusion in the Black Stars squad for the 2023 AFCON campaign as an honour.
He said this in an interview with Kotoko’s media channel after the Black Stars 27 man squad for the upcoming tournament was officially named.
Lamptey is one of three Ghana Premier League players named in the squad; he was named alongside Medeama SC duo Jonathan Sowah and Abdul Fatawu Hamid.
Speaking in the presence of Ugandan teammate Steven Mukwala who believes Lamptey will make Ghana proud, Lamptey said, (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“It’s an honour-to be called to the Black Stars- and it feels good. I am very happy. Growing up, it was in mind that I wanted to especially play for the Black Stars and for me to be included in the 27 man squad, it’s an honour and am very happy.”
Ghana is scheduled to play against Egypt, Mozambique and Cape Verde in Group B at the group stage of the 2023 AFCON.
