The Ghana Football Association’s interest in hiring Mauritanian National Men’s Football Team head coach Amir Abdou as the next Black Stars head coach has increased tremendously due to the contract situation of the French born Comorian.

According to Mauritanian media outlet, DalilouFoot, Abdou’s contract is set to end in March and the Mauritanian Football Federation has prepared a $35,000 monthly salary as part of the terms of his contract renewal negotiations.

Citi Sports gathers, the GFA is prepared to negotiate a $45,000 monthly salary to the man who masterminded Comoros’ shock 3-2 win over Ghana at the 2021 AFCON.

The 51 year old landed on the radar of the GFA following the dismissal of Chris Hughton as Black Stars head coach in the wake of Ghana’s poor performance at the 2023 AFCON. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Ghana failed to win a game in three outings at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire and Hughton received a ton of criticism for his role in the terrible campaign.

After guiding less fancied Comoros and Mauritania to qualify to the round of 16 stage in the 2021 and 2023 AFCON’s, Abdou has also landed on the head coaching radar of Burkina Faso and Algeria.
