Kpando Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has drummed up his fine record against Ghana Premier League giant Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club after leading Lions to beat Kotoko.

Lions beat Kotoko 1-0 in the opening game of the second round of the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season with Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah’s close range finish being the winner.

Speaking after the game, the veteran tactician trumpeted his fine run of results over the years against Kotoko with different teams.

“I have been coaching other teams meeting Kotoko and I don’t think they have been a problem for me. When I took up for Kessben, Medeama, AshantiGold, there was no problem so I told them (Lions players), Kotoko, the name is big but they should not fear them.”

“I psyched them. I told them yes, Kotoko is one of the biggest teams in Africa but it doesn’t mean you can also not be able to play them.”
