Black Queen’s head coach Nora Häuptle has heaped praise on fans who turned up to support the Queens during their crucial Paris 2024 Olympic qualifier against the Copper Queens of Zambia.
As part of efforts to whip up interest for the game fans were allowed free entry into the 40,000 capacity stadium.
However the Black Queen’s failed to win the first leg of their third round qualifier despite the massive support, succumbing to a 1 – 0 defeat.
In a post-match interview after the game the Queen’s Coach stated that it’s always special to play at the Accra sports stadium despite the loss.
“For me every time, it is special to play at the Accra sports Stadium”
“It special to play in front of so many spectators, also our Ghanaian spectators with the music.”
“When you have goosebumps, this is what you want, to try to deliver, to level up the emotions. I’m sorry unfortunately we could not succeed today, but we have a second leg in Zambia.”
“I think when we put one goal in it will explode down there and then we come back in April for the first round against Morocco and then I hope the stadium here is cooking and maybe one day we can get a sold out stadium.”
Despite the loss, the queens are positive ahead of the second leg in Zambia set for Wednesday, February 28.
