Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus has been speaking on the penalty claim he won that led to West Ham’s equalizer in a 1-1 draw with AFC Bournemouth in the English Premier League.
Kudus won the penalty after getting fouled by Lloyd Kelly and James Ward-Prowse swept home the attempt to cancel Dominic Solanke’s third minute goal for Bournemouth.
“The referee has to be very sure; we understand that but I knew it was a penalty because there was contact on my foot, and the Bournemouth player did not connect with the ball either. I was glad we got the penalty because it meant we scored and got back into the game.”
This was Kudus’ first game on his return from the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire that had Ghana eliminated at the group stage.
Kudus scored twice in two games and won two Man of the Match Awards in the process. The 23 year old is in line to play in West Ham’s matchup against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, February 4.
In the first tie between the two teams, Kudus scored as West Ham beat Man United 2-0.
