Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil has been announced as a new player of Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy.
The announcement was made after a four year contract was agreed with the speedy winger who departed Belgian side KRC Genk.
Paintsil has joined Galaxy as a designated player meaning his salary isn’t subject to salary cap rules of the USA sports league system.
The 26 year old former Tema Youth player has been an integral player for Genk since from Turkish side Ankaragucu. He spent time with Hungarian side Ferencvaros.
Paintsil registered six goals and four assists in 23 Jupiler Pro League games this season after starring in the 2022-2023 season with 14 assists and 14 goals in 30 goals in the league.
The winger was linked to a move to the English Premier League with Fulham reportedly interested in signing him.
Paintsil’s move comes on the back of his run with Ghana at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire where he impressed but was controversially substituted at half time by then Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
