Head coach of Ghana’s Pickleball Women’s National Team, Lilly Jue, says her team has approached training for the African Games like it is set to play against the absolute best in the world.
She said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports on the sidelines of a training session at the University of Ghana which will serve as one of two main host venues for the 13th African Games.
The Games will be held in Ghana from March 8 to March 23 with pickleball as one of the demonstration sports including Teqball, Speedball and E-Sports that have been introduced to the competition.
Ahead of the start of the pickleball competition in the men’s, women’s and mixed categories, the American trainer talked through the team’s beastly approach to training.
“We are training as if we are playing the best in the world. We are not training to beat the best in Africa. We are training to be the best as we can by the time the Games come.”
In a related development, Technical Director of the Ghana Pickleball Association, Michael Justice Apea is happy the sport has been added to the list of disciplines in the 2023 African Games. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
