Technical Director of the Ghana Pickleball Association, Michael Justice Apea, says he is happy pickleball has been added to the disciplines in the 13th African Games.
The African Games will be held in Ghana from March 8 to March 23 with the renovated University of Ghana Stadium and the newly built Borteyman Sports Complex as the main host venues.
Pickleball is one of the demonstration sports in the multi-sport competition with E-Sports, Speedball, Teqball and scrabble being other demonstration sports athletes will compete in in Accra.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports during a training session at the University of Ghana, Justice Apea was adamant expanding the sports discipline pool is good.
“We are very happy it has been introduced in the African Games we are actually happy it has been introduced so that the whole country and the African continent will also know that pickleball has come to stay.”
On the update from training, Apea said, “They (the athletes) are responding effectively…we are trying to wipe away some of the faults.”
