Desmond Ofei, the newly appointed head coach of Ghana’s U-20 national team, also known as the Black Satellites has expressed confidence and revealed that he and the team feel no pressure as they approach the first clash against Congo in the Men’s football tournament.

Taking on the role in September 2023, succeeding Samuel Boadu, Ofei is gearing up for his inaugural challenge at the 13th African Games in the men’s football tournament.

The 35-year-old coach emphasizes the team’s readiness as they kick off their campaign against Congo in Group A later today, Friday, March 8 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

I think as a player or as it doesn’t matter if it’s the first team or the junior side, when every competition we go with the mindset of trying to achieve the ultimate goal which is trying to win the tournament.
So with our performance and hopefully if we can reach far I’m sure automatically we will obviously make sure that the image of Ghana is protected and like I said before it’s game by game and we are fully prepared to face Congo.
We start with Congo today, every tournament is different but of course we have, we are playing at home so expectations are high and like I said before the boys are ready we are ready to give our very best and then let’s see how the tournament goes but game by game we’ll be ready there’s no pressure you know why because I think like I said we are fully prepared we really have a good squad our boys are ready and hungry so we don’t feel any pressure.

The Black Satellites will be looking to better their performance from the last edition in 2019 when they failed to make it out of the group stage.

Ghana only managed to beat Burundi by two goals to one in the first group game and went on to lose to Mali & Senegal.
