Dreams Football Club have taken a massive step toward qualifying to the next stage of the 2023-2024 CAF Confederation Cup season.
The Ghana club beat Stade Malien 2-1 in Bamako in the first leg of the quarterfinal stage matchup with the second leg set to be played at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, April 7.
Veteran striker John Antwi bagged a brace with first scored in the 66th minute, cancelling out Yoro Diaby’s goal for Stade Malien.
Antwi’s second goal was scored from the penalty spot in the 74th minute after Dreams were awarded the spot kick off a handball incident from Malien’s Issa Yacoubou.
After bagging the important win, Dreams FC players celebrated wildly in the dressing room and were captured in a video singing gospel songs in unison with Christian world that is celebrating Easter.
In other CAF Confed Cup results, Egypt’s Zamalek FC beat Future FC 2-1 while Nigeria’s Rivers United beat Algeria side USM Alger 1-0 ahead of the second leg.
