Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club goalkeeper Fredrick Asare is in a buoyant mood after receiving his debut call up to the Black Stars.

Asare’s call up comes at a time Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team prepares to play against Nigeria on March 22 and Uganda on March 26 in international friendly games.

Both games will be played in Morocco and serve as the first set of games for newly appointed Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.

Addo is making his second run with the Black Stars as a head coach for the second time though his first run out with the four time AFCON winners was on an interim basis.

“Dream come true” Asare wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page when he was captured in a training session with the team.

Asare trained with fellow goal keepers Lawrence Ati Zigi and Joseph Wollacott with the trio taking instructions from new Black Stars goal keeper trainer Fatau Dauda.

Despite his fine performances, Asare hasn’t been able to prevent Kotoko from losing four of five Ghana Premier League games since the second half of the 2023-2024 season commenced in February.
