After another frustrating extensive period out with injury, Thomas Partey made his return to competitive football.
The Ghanaian midfielder featured as a substitute for Arsenal in The Gunners 6-0 win over Sheffield United in the English Premier League.
The win is Arsenal’s sixth in a row in the league and the fourth game in a row the London side have scored at least four goals.
Partey replaced Jorginho in the 64th minute with Arsenal leading 6-0 after being named in the squad just as manager Mikel Arteta has predicted in the lead up to the game. This was Partey’s fifth league appearance in the 2023-2024 season.
In 25 minutes on his return, Partey completed 30 of 34 passes, had 36 touches and won an aerial duel.
The former Atletico Madrid midfielder hadn’t featured in a competitive game since October 8, 2023 after picking up a thigh injury as Arsenal prepared to play against Sevilla in Spain in the UEFA Champions League.
He subsequently missed out on competing for Ghana at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire as the Black Stars crashed out of the competition at the group stage.
